Hi, I’m Xyz from FinancialPath, working until 65 is nothing I could dream of and with a solid plan, my path to financial independence at 35 is clear. With the power of compound interest and a high savings rate, I am confident that I can achieve financial independence and early retirement within 10 years. I currently save over 50% of my income and hope to increase this savings rate up to 70% to finally accumulate enough assets to passively pay for all my expenses. I am more than happy to share this guest post with GenY Finance Guy today. I wrote about my views on Bonds and their place in a portfolio, I hope you enjoy! Feel free to comment and share. Monthly Goal Check-in #7 – @ 8/1/2016
As I write this monthly goal check-in we are officially 214 days into 2016 (or ~59% complete). Most people started the year off strong with their New Year’s resolutions for 2016. Well, at least the 45% of people who actually set New Year’s resolutions (US based statistics). The low participation rate isn’t even the worst news, of those 45%, 1 in 3 have already given up by the end of January. This means that 70% of Americans have already failed either by default or giving up. I don’t want you or I to be a part of that 70% group. If you’re reading this, then you’re probably still on track and fired up to reach your goals, I know I am! …

I was in a very different place and mindset two years ago when I started this blog, oh how much you can grow and learn in such a short period of time. Believe it or not, through sharing and self-reflection, this blog has helped me catapult in many areas of my life. Obviously, the biggest area and the focus of this blog is the growth that has happened financially (and continues to happen). The growth in income and net worth has been absolutely mind-boggling. For those newer readers, this blog was created in September of 2014, and at the end of 2014 we had a net worth of …
Blueprint to a $10M Net Worth [Updated]
It was 18 months ago as of this writing that I first published my very rough plan to achieve a Net Worth of $10M and $50,000/month in income. When you put together such an ambitious plan that stretches over a 20 year period, you have to expect things to evolve. This post is my attempt to first give a status update as to how I did against year 1 of the plan, and to also give an updated blueprint that is based on new information. Believe it or not, but a lot can change over the course of 12 months. To put things in proper perspective it probably makes the most sense to review the original plan from a high level. …
July 2016 – Detailed Financial Report #19 – Net Worth $425,012 [+33.8% for 2016 YTD]
GYFG here checking in for the July monthly financial report. If you have been reading these reports for a while you will notice that I introduce each month with the same intro month after month. I do this for two reasons; a) for the newbies to the site (which make up about 50% of the sites traffic); and b) to remind everyone what these reports are all about. By all means if you have read the intro at least once, then please feel free to skip down to the “Summary of July 2016” section where the new content begins (click the orange link to be taken there automatically). For those of you that are new around this corner of the …
