Gen Y Finance Guy Freedom Fighter, Interview 7 Comments

Today we have Nate, the co-founder of Invesement Zen, here to share his story and how he got to where he is today. Not to give away too much, but he is a real estate mogul…of digital properties. Yes, people can actually make a living buying and selling websites. It’s easier than it sounds, I’m sure! Take it away Nate… 1. Who are you and what do you do? What is your story? How are you fighting for your Freedom? Where did you start, where in the journey are you, and where do you ultimately want to end up? Before I answer, I gotta say I love that you describe personal finance as fighting for freedom! Andrew Warner from Mixergy, …

Simple Path to Wealth Book

[Book Review] – The Simple Path to Wealth

Gen Y Finance Guy Book Review 6 Comments

It’s not every day you receive an advanced copy of a book on building wealth and are then asked to read and publicly review the book. The author and fellow personal finance blogger JL Collins really delivered on the promise of the title. Not only was it a quick read, it was entertaining, and very easy to understand (it skipped all the unnecessary technical topics that tend to make personal finance overly complicated). Although an avid reader, believe it or not, I don’t read much in the personal finance space. I find most of the books to be far too boring and way less on point than many of the blogs out there that in my opinion do far more …

First, do investment bankers ever sleep? I think not! I am convinced that they have a continuous and never ending supply of cocaine and caffeine and reserve sleep for …

Healthcare is expensive and the way it is being paid for has changed substantially in recent years primarily due to the advent of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).  This can make budgeting and planning for healthcare related expenses more and more challenging for folks. Like many people, I like being able to budget out my expenses for the next year and have a …

Gen Y Finance Guy Monthly Financial Reports 21 Comments

Sorry for the delay in getting a post out this week. Being on vacation and coming back to an insane week at work didn’t allow me much time to get the May report updated until this morning. Enjoy! GYFG here checking in for the May monthly financial report. If you have been reading these reports for a while you will notice that I introduce each month with the same intro month after month. I do this for two reasons, a) for the newbies to the site (which make up about 50% of the sites traffic) and b) to remind everyone what these reports are all about. By all means if you have read the intro at least once, then please …
